The DCR-SR40 contains a 30GB Hard Disk Drive to store its stills and videos.

    system, but without the overall monochrome color common with earlier low-light recording systems.


So far I'm pleased with this little camera (although it looks kinda silly sitting on top of its big 'ole tripod). The
USB connection makes it easy to dump the images to laptop or PC and the touch screen control is pretty slick.
The range of the Nightshot feature may be a bit overstated in the description but the addition of a cheap IR
illuminator will fix that.
